Olha Herasymiuk meets with members of the Australia–Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group

During a working visit to Melbourne, Chair of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting, Olha Herasymiuk, held a meeting with representatives of the Australia–Ukraine Friendship Group in the Parliament of the State of Victoria.

The meeting took place in the Parliament building and focused on current and future support that Australia provides to Ukraine, particularly in the humanitarian sphere.

Australian parliamentarians expressed strong solidarity with Ukraine and confirmed their readiness to further develop the partnership.

During the meeting, the parties also exchanged experiences in the field of media regulation and legislation. In particular, they discussed the protection of children’s rights in the online environment, countering disinformation, and adapting regulatory approaches to the challenges of the digital age – topics that are equally relevant for both countries.

The meeting brought together:

  • Lee Tarlamis, Chair of the Friendship Group, Member of Parliament and Member of the Order of Australia,
  • Matthew Guy, Co-Chair, Member of Parliament,
  • Kat Theophanous, Member of Parliament,
  • Michael Galea, Member of Parliament,
  • Nataliya Poshyvaylo-Towler, Regional Vice President of the Ukrainian World Congress,
  • Chrestyna Kmetj, Director of Business and Multicultural Affairs at the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) and CEO of Plast Australia.

The Chair of the National Council expressed gratitude to the Australian colleagues for their openness to dialogue, professional exchange, and willingness to continue cooperation in the field of information policy.
